Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2026

This privacy policy explains what information Synod of Soup collects from people who use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. Plain language; no dark patterns.

What we collect

If you create an account, we collect: your email address (for sign-in and account recovery), your chosen display name, and the tradition you select. We do not require your real name. We do not collect or store payment information; the site is free.

If you post a contribution (comment, question, answer, or upvote), we store the text, the time, and a link to your account.

Our hosting provider (Supabase) automatically logs technical information necessary to operate the service — IP address, browser version, and so on — for a limited period.

What we don't do

We do not sell or share your data with advertisers. There are no third-party advertising trackers on this site. We do not run analytics that fingerprint individual visitors. We do not send marketing email.

Public vs. private

Anything you post is public — that is the point of the forum. Your email address is private and is never shown to other users; only your display name and chosen tradition are.

Cookies and storage

The site uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and remember your session. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

Your rights

You may delete your account at any time, which removes your email and profile. Public contributions you have made can be redacted on request. To request deletion or redaction, email the address below.
